Where's Kapone?

I should have written this days ago, but I couldn't....
I should have posted this when it first happened, but it was too close....

The words wouldn't come, but the tears did.

As humans, we often boast about our position in the state of the world--- the most intelligent, the most creative, the most innovative....

It's what we shouldn't boast about (though some do) that sickens me...

There are too many times that the human race has failed itself--- too many innocents slaughtered, too many lives lost for no purpose, too many things destroyed, too many things ignored.

Pit Bulls (Pibbles, as they are affectionately called) have gotten a bum rap for years. They have been viewed as viscous animals that should be feared and shot on sight, lest they "rip your face off." Most communities, apartment complexes, cities have some ordinance or ban against owning the animals in the first place. They have been bred to fight, they have been bred to be monsters---

But, a Pit Bull raised in loving circumstances is just that-- loving. They can be staunch protectors, especially of children (the nanny dog, as they have been called). They can be sweethearts who believe, wholeheartedly, they aren't too big to fit in your lap.

It is the unfounded fears of a dog, because of his breed, that has led to so many issues between pet-owners and the communities they live in.

And, it is the unfounded belief that a dog, because of his breed, is a born killer that has led to even more issues.

When a full-grown, unaltered male Pit Bull goes missing after being picked up by an Animal Control Officer, why is it we can't get a simple answer as to his whereabouts?

How does a full-grown Pit just disappear? Who took this animal and what did they do with it?

While all the government officials and shelter employees are busy back-peddling and covering their hides, we can't forget there is a very loved animal who has been separated from his owners. We can't forget there is a very loving family who has been separated from their pet.

Pets do nothing except ask for our love and protection. They only do what they need to in order to earn that love and respect.

Nothing disgusts me more than the idea that there are people in this world that require their animals to fight and die in order to earn a love they will never receive. It sickens me to tears to think that an animal will fight and die, believing that they are loved by the person who stuck them in the death pit.

Any dog raised to fight, will fight. Any dog raised to love, will love.

Any human should be intelligent enough to know this...

Please help us in our search for answers----- Where's Kapone?

My niece, Karmen, and her faithful protector, Kapone

  1. I hope you find him e.a.s. I'm probably as guilty as anyone for giving pit bulls a bad rap, given the stories I've written about put bull attacks and people I've quoted saying they're bad. But these are the things people read about. For every attack there are thousands of people who have no trouble with these pits, and we never read about this. good luck with the search.

  2. Thanks, David! My brother and his family haven't given up hope... I am grateful that the police have stepped in, but my hope of finding him disappeared days ago. Now I just wish there were answers, even if he is never recovered.

  3. keep the faith mate. I once had a cat that went missing of about three weeks. He'd managed to make it all the way across the city, about four miles to his old house where he was sited. Then one day he turned up again. Good luck.

  4. I suppose there's always hope. And, we'll hold on to it until we hear otherwise :-) Thanks, again!

A to Z reflections....

Another A to Z challenge comes to an end--- another collection of posts and poetry have been written, another deep breath of relief is released. For my fellow bloggers that survived as well, it's another 'challenge-completed' notch carved into the writing desk. I've come to enjoy my yearly foray into the world of all things alphabetical. This was my third year, though it was only the second year I had a workable theme (which made the challenge substantially easier than the first year I attempted this challenge.) And, though my first year was difficult because my focus was so scattered, I found this year was more  difficult because I lost the enthusiasm that came with the first year excitement----excitement which helped me plug along until the end of the challenge. Year 3 was a success in the sense that I completed the challenge, though, this was the year that almost wasn't---- Somewhere about a third of the way through the challenge, I seriously considered

A-Z Reflections, year 4....

A-Z blogging challenge for 2014 has come and gone, seemingly without my realizing it. And, though I fell behind once or twice toward the end, I finished this year's challenge right on time. Really, I can't believe it's already over. I feel like I just finished my post for letter A... Year 4, for this blogger, was a far cry from the tortured state of despondency that was most of  Year 3 -- I'll not mention the irony of this year's focus on death being easier to blog about than last year's foray into supernatural creatures, we'll leave that for my therapy sessions *ahem* As always, A-Z brought with it, not only 26 days of unbridled and far-reaching knowledge (disguised as entertaining and thought-provoking blog-posts), but a chance to connect with new faces while reconnecting with familiar faces--who had perhaps drifted away--from A-Z's past.  I am always amazed by the ingenuity and inspiration that comes from lumping a couple thousand folk

Remember and Return.....

I've settled my heart in the memory of your sigh, the subtle caress of your lips. I've eased my mind's worry in the warmth of your smile, the soft embrace of your kiss. But, the time of our parting has been of a length, that I scarce can recall your words' sound. And, I fear in the depths of this consuming absence, your passions withheld, your spirit's now bound. I have not the strength to fight such a foe, as wild and untamed as the sea. I have not the will to stand at your door, and demand your decision to be, As one or the other, the sea or my love, I know I would fail to win thee. My only request, when you've ventured enough, Remember! And, return unto me.
